Reservation Information

Check the schedule when making reservations for a breakdown of frequency and length of reservations available per library card.

The Lab features three types of Heat Presses. A Flat 16x20 press, a Cricut hat press, and a mug press.

 Dye Sublimation Tips:

  •  Items like mugs, license plates, ornaments, etc need to be marked as Dye Sublimation Blanks. Items that do not have the sublimation coating with not take the transfer.
  •  Cloth needs to be at least 65% polyester for the dye to transfer.
    •  Darker colors will not show the design you transfer; light colors will work. The printer does not print in white.
  •  Keep all documentation about temperature and time suggestions from the manufacturer.

 Heat Transfer Vinyl Tips:

  •  Heat transfer vinyl from the Roland Large Format Printer is not printed mirrored. There is transfer material to be used once the area is weeded from what you don’t want transferred.
  •  Heat transfer vinyl which is cut on machines like the Brother ScanNCut, Cricut, or Silhouette need to be mirrored as it cuts the back side of the vinyl and the transfer sheet is already attached.
  •  Heat transfers can generally be put on most fabrics, those with high texture may not give the best results.

Mugg Press

Lastly, there is a Cricut Curved Heat Press machine available, perfect for pressing hats or curved surfaces.
