Electronic Cutting Machine
The Brother ScanNCut SDX-225 is capable of drawing or cutting shapes from materials such as paper, vinyl, or fabric. These shapes can be custom designed, selected from the onboard library, or scanned and cut from a design outline.

Customers may reserve up to two hours per session, with a limit of one session per day.
Material Availability
The Lab offers card stock, vinyl, and heat transfer sheets for purchase. See the Lab Price Guide for current prices.
You are welcome to bring your own materials. For large projects or specific needs, purchasing your own materials is recommended due to possible stock limitations or color availability.
File Requirements
Acceptable file formats are FCM and SVG.
Design Software Availability
Laptops with Corel Draw, a file creation and editing software, are available for borrowing in The Lab during your visit. Alternatively, you can use browser-based software like Canva from home or other library computers. Inkscape is also recommended for home computer use.
Additionally, Brother offers CanvasWorkspace, available as both a browser and a downloadable version. Create a free account to access your files from any internet-connected computer.
Design Assistance
Makerspace staff can help you get started, but the space is primarily a DIY area designed for you to explore and experiment. Staff may be assisting other customers simultaneously and are unable to give long one on one tutorials.
