The temporary Olathe Library location at 1078A W. Santa Fe is now open. This temporary space replaces the location at 201 E. Park St. and will serve as the library's home until a new and permanent library opens in downtown Olathe (projected opening 2022).
The Olathe Library will join the Indian Creek Library in offering the following hours: 9 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday; 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday and 1 pm to 5 pm on Sunday. The first hour of each weekday (9 am to 10 am) will be reserved for library customers at higher risk for severe illness, including adults age 65 and older, pregnant women and those who have underlying medical conditions.
In addition to browsing, self-check outs, and curbside/indoor hold pick up, the library will resume the following services:
To allow for proper quarantining of library materials, returns will be accepted in the outside drop boxes only. Play areas, children's game computers, study rooms, the Lab, the Zone, the Studio, the Friends bookstore and the café will remain closed.
Face masks or cloth face coverings are now required to be worn inside the Olathe Public Libraries, in accordance with Kansas Governor Laura Kelly's statewide order and the Board of County Commissioners’ July 2 vote to uphold the order. The mask requirement applies to all customers, volunteers and Library staff unless otherwise exempted.
We also ask that all visitors to our buildings continue to follow recommended preventative measures, such as physical distancing of at least six feet, frequent hand-washing or sanitizing, and staying home if you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19.
Staff will continue intensive surface cleaning inside the building, hand sanitizer will be available to customers, and library materials will be quarantined for 72 hours before being recirculated.
Checkouts and Curbside Holds
Library materials can be checked out inside the both Olathe Libraries. To avoid contact with staff, customers will be asked to use the self-check out machines.
Both locations also offer curbside holds pick up for those who do not wish to enter the library. Read more about curbside holds
Returns and Due Dates

Public computer sessions will be limited to one hour/day per customer due to decreased computer availability. Customers may notice that some computers are turned off to maintain social distancing standards.
