Book Nook Contest

BOOK NOOK CONTEST GUIDELINES

Book nooks are small, three-dimensional models that are about the size of a large dictionary. They often show scenes inspired by real places, books or movies, or someone’s imagination. They can be realistic or fictional. They are displayed on a shelf alongside books for a whimsical viewing experience.

Make a book nook and we will display it on our shelves!

You make the book nook, then bring it to the Indian Creek Library by 5 pm on Sunday, July 12. Fill out our contest form with your name, age group, contest category, the name of your booknook, medium/materials you used to make it, as well as a statement of purpose or a description of the book nook and bring the form with you.

Your book nook must be the following dimensions:

· 10.5” high
· 7.5” long
· 3” wide (about the size of a large dictionary or thesaurus)

Your book nook can be entered into 1 age group and either the 3D Printed or Handmade categories:

ADULT (HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE AND OLDER)
· 3D Printed
· Handmade

TEEN (GRADES 6-12)
· 3D Printed
· Handmade

CHILD (GRADES KINDERGARTEN-5, MAY HAVE A GROWNUP HELP)
· 3D Printed
· Handmade

From July 13 through July 31, a panel of judges will meet to evaluate the entries. Meanwhile, you can vote for your favorite book nook in all 6 categories.

On Sunday, August 2, at the end of the library’s 111th birthday celebration, we will announce the winners! All entries will be displayed at the Olathe Public Libraries on our shelves until December 18. You will be able to pick up your book nook from December 19 through December 31. Any book nooks not picked up become library property.
