Butterflies at the Library

"Isn't Nature Wonderful?"

by James Proimos

I once ate a caterpillar,

it’s no lie.
Yesterday I burped—
out came a butterfly.

Well, that’s not exactly the way it works.  To see the real deal, visit the Downtown Library and explore our display of caterpillars in the Children’s area.  We have Monarch caterpillars and Black Swallowtail caterpillars munching away on their favorite plants as they prepare to transform into chrysalises and then emerge as beautiful butterflies.  We’ve already had one Monarch complete its metamorphosis.  The library is excited to once again offer this special opportunity to observe up close one of nature’s little miracles.  Check it out the next time you're in the library.
