We’ve written about the bubble wall, the Everbright system, the Friends Bookstore and The Café. Last week another unique component of the Indian Creek Library arrived and has been set in place; the fireplace. We all know Kansas has long winter months that can turn bitterly cold and depressing. What better way to combat such seasonal affects than with a warm cup of coffee, a good book and a fire to read it by; it’s also a great place to gather with friends. The gas fire place will be 18 feet long with a partial bench protruding in front. Additional lounge seating will be strategically placed around the area so many customers can enjoy the experience. The fireplace will be wrapped with the same beautiful elm wood used throughout the building to add a warm accent to the mostly glass and metal structure.
Additional planters at the front of the building have been poured and the framing has been removed. One can now see a row of gardens emerge at the front of the building, to be planted with bamboo and ground cover foliage. The area is now prepped and ready for additional concrete, and with a good weather forecast this week crews are planning to pour the front sidewalks and lay the asphalt for the entire parking lot.
The gaming room (The Zone) is also beginning to take shape. This room will surely be one of the most popular gathering places for our teen customers. Gaming components in The Zone will include a laptop bar, comfortable gaming chairs, three 55” wall mounted screens for our Playstation, X-Box and Nintendo Switch systems; another 55” screen for PC gaming such as Roblox; and a virtual reality gaming area.
