Heads up! The Olathe libraries will be closed on Monday, October 14 for staff training.
The new Indian Creek opens on October 19, 2019! In preparation, the temporary Indian Creek location closed on September 8, 2019. Please note service changes during the transition.
Because of the wet weather, there isn’t a lot of new information to share. However, Indian Creek Library construction has progressed enough to safely allow staff to participate in an exclusive tour. Below is a description of that experience from one library staff member.
“We walked through an expansive modern library effectively illuminated by natural daylight. Open areas flanked in part by emerging walls promised space for connection and conversation, while the progress of the reading and study rooms hinted toward opportunity for quieter pursuits. Flowing out from the central marketplace were the commons and cafe, event space, teen section, and children’s section, each beginning to show their unique features while remaining connected to the heart of the marketplace."

"In a similar way, the spacious staff area offered unity and flow to foster collaboration and the exchange of ideas. The vast amount of windows in the front, back and north side of the building made for striking views of the world outside.”
