William Allen White Award 2019

The William Allen White Children’s Book Award is the oldest statewide children’s book award in the United States.  Each year the winners are voted on by school children across the state of Kansas.  Here are the winners of the William Allen White Award for 2019.

The winner of the award for 3rd – 5th graders is

When his father enlists in the military and makes him return his beloved pet fox to the wild, Peter, who has been sent to live with his grandfather hundreds of miles away, embarks on a journey filled with astonishing discoveries in order to be reunited with his fox.

The winner of the award for 6th –  8th graders is

Ghost, a naturally talented runner and troublemaker, is recruited for an elite middle school track team. He must stay on track, literally and figuratively, to reach his full potential.

Congratulations to the winners, and kudos to all the young students who read the many nominated titles and voted for their favorite.  Good job!
