How Jack PosterJoin the Olathe Human Relations Commission for a screening of the documentary, How Jack Became Black followed by a community conversation about how we bridge our racial divides. The film explores the multiracial baby boom through the eyes of filmmaker and father to third generation mixed raced children, Eli Steele. The film opens when Steele’s son, Jack is denied enrollment to an elementary school for refusing to check a "race box." Why does race matter so much? To find out, Steele takes an uncharted journey across America where he confronts and exposes identity politics and the tendency to “lock” individuals into racial groups.
