Winter/Spring 2009 Rhyme Time Schedule January 26 - April 22
Rhyme Time is a language-enrichment program for children aged 12 to 24 months. Each child must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver (one-on-one required). Sessions are held on Mondays at 10:15 and 11:00 a.m. at the Indian Creek Branch (11:00 is a repeat of the 10:15 program.) and on Wednesdays at 10:15 a.m. at the Main Library. The winter/spring session will run from January 26 through April 22. Rhyme Time sessions last about 20-25 minutes. No registration is necessary, but space will be limited to 15 pairs each session. Rhymes, songs, and finger plays will introduce your child to the sound and rhythm of words and to a few simple concepts such as physical features and counting. They may also help develop listening skills, a good foundation for both family storytime and preschool. Rhyme Time is designed to provide parents and caregivers a repertoire of materials to use at home with their children. Please be aware that this is not a traditional storytime. This interactive program is one-on-one time with your child. Adult participation is essential. Be ready to participate and help your child focus on the activities. Your enthusiasm will help your child to understand that this is fun! Please do not bring another child of any age with you. Please do not leave unattended older siblings under age 8 in the library, in accordance with library policy. Toys and food/drink can be distracting to children. Please do not bring them to Rhyme Time. You may not be aware that the library has a no food policy.
