FALL STORYTIMES

During the fall the library offers weekly storytimes for 3, 4 and 5 year olds.  Storytimes are offered at both libraries at various times during the week.  The fall session runs from September 23 through November 20.  Registration is required and begins on Tuesday, August 26.  For the complete schedule of times and locations, click here.

FALL TIME FOR TWO

During the fall the library offers Time for Two storytimes for two year olds plus a caring adult.  Time for Two is offered at both libraries on Friday mornings.  The fall session runs from September 26 through October 31.  Registration is required and begins on Tuesday, August 26.  For the complete Time for Two schedule of times and locations, click here.

FALL RHYME TIME

Rhyme Time is a language-enrichment program for children aged 12 to 24 months plus a parent or caregiver.  Program will include rhymes, songs, and fingerplays.  Rhyme Time is offered on Monday mornings at the Indian Creek Branch Library and on Wednesday mornings at the Main LIbrary.  The fall session runs from September 22 through November 19.  No registration is necessary, but space is limited to 15 pairs each session.  For more information and the complete Rhyme Time schedule of times and locations, click here.

SUMMER DRAWING CONTEST DISPLAY

This year's Summer Drawing Contest is over. Entries have been judged, and the winners picked. Winning artworks will be displayed at the libraries on the dates listed below:

• August 1-15 at the Main Library
• August 18-31 at the Indian Creek Branch

READ, RATTLE & ROLL - For 3, 4 and 5 year olds

     10:00 a.m. at the Main Library
Get ready to pound a drum, clang a cymbal, ring some bells and make a little music.  This program will feature books that "sing" and lots of music, movement, singing and fun with instruments.  Registration is required.  Register at either Olathe library or call (913) 971-6874.  Program will last about 45 minutes.

Come enjoy a free movie at the library.  Bring a pillow.  No food or drinks please.  All ages welcome but *kindergartners and younger must be accompanied by an adult.  No registration necessary.  Note: The library closes at 6:00 p.m. on Fridays.

TO BE CONTINUED - For 1st - 6th graders

Mondays, September 22 - November 17
     4:00-5:00 p.m. at the Indian Creek Branch
We will be reading 2-3 chapter books over the course of this session.  Each week we will read aloud several chapters.  The book will be continued the following week until it is finished.  A snack will be provided.  No registration necessary.

Play chess with a worthy opponent.  No registration, no fee.  Boards and equipment will be provided.  All playing levels welcome.  The whole family is invited, but *kindergartners and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

LET'S LEARN SPANISH - For 4 and 5 year olds

Tuesdays, September 23 - October 14
     2:00 p.m. at the Main Library
Wednesdays, October 29 - November 26
     11:00 a.m. at the Indian Creek Branch
     Note: There will be no program at Indian Creek on November 12.
During the four week session preschoolers will listen to stories and learn some Spanish.  Topics will include animals, food, clothing, greetings, numbers and colors.  Registration is required and begins on Tuesday, September 2.  Register at either Olathe library or call (913) 971-6874.  Program will last 30-45 minutes.  Children will be expected to attend by themselves.

FAMILY READ ALOUD CLUB

This program is designed for parents to read aloud to their elementary-aged children. To participate in the Family Read-Aloud Club, just stop by the Children's Reference Desk and we'll get you started!
