Are you ready for a summer of fun and good books?  This summer's reading program theme is Every Hero Has a Story.  We will be offering a variety of fun activities featuring all kinds of heroes, superheroes, comics and more.  The summer will include:

  • special library programs
  • three big off-site programs
  • storytimes
  • book discussion groups
  • free family movies
  • chess nights
  • LEGO family program
  • preschool programs
  • bookmark contest
  • Find Fido Fridays
  • and more
We will once again be starting off the summer with our Summer Reading Kick-Off for the whole family on May 26 at Frontier Park.  This summer we will also be offering three big programs off-site at the Indian Creek Community Church located at 12480 S. Black Bob Rd.  This is just up the street from the Olathe Indian Creek Library.  It's sure to be a fun and exciting summer at the library!

All young readers (going into 5th grade and younger) are invited to pick up a summer reading folder at the library beginning Wednesday, May 20.  We will continue to distribute folders throughout the summer.  You make pick one up anytime.  Folders will also be available at our Summer Reading Kick-Off on May 26.  Use the folder to keep track of all your summer reading.  Just for fun you may also collect colorful stickers for your folder each week throughout the summer.  Bring your folder back to the library between July 27 - August 12 to receive a free paperback book!

There is something going on for everyone.  Be a hero at the library this summer!  We hope to see you there.  If you have any questions, call us at (913) 971-6874.
