Come for a drop-in stealth literacy playdate in our meeting room on Wednesdays!  Our educational toys, puzzles, and books will help increase your children's "pre-reading" skills.  No registration.  Come and go as you please.

TAPE TOWN (WITH PREHISTORIC TIME TUNNEL) - For ages 2 - 6 with adult

Creative play for young car lovers!  Children ages 2 through 6, and the adults who bring them, are invited to stop by with their favorite toy car or truck and zoom around our library Tape Town.  Make various pit stops along the way to mail a letter at the post office, deposit money at the bank, and new this session - a time tunnel to a prehistoric world of dinosaurs!  Please limit children to on handheld, non-motorized vehicle.  Don't have toy car?  Take one of ours for a test drive!  Siblings are welcome.  No registration.  Come and go as you please.

AFTERSCHOOL TECH CLUB - For 3rd - 5th grade

Come play with technology at the library.  Each month's program will focus on a different tech tool and toy. This month we'll learn about Coding with Minecraft, Moana & More.  Program will last about an hour.

PRESCHOOL DANCE PARTY - For ages 5 & younger with adult

Let's dance!  Come shake, shimmy, and dance up a storm at our preschool dance party, featuring favorite songs from our children's music collection.  No registration, but space is limited.  Program will last 20 - 30 minutes.  Tickets will be handed out 15 minutes prior to program.  

R.E.A.D. TO A DOG - For young readers of all ages

1:30 - 2:30 p.m. @ Indian Creek

Young readers of all ages may drop by and read to a cuddly canine  between 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. at the Indian Creek Library.  Upon arrival, check in at Children's Services for a reading time.  Reading sessions will be limited and available on a first come, first served basis.  Trained therapy dogs provided by Pets for LIfe, Inc.

HOMESCHOOL:  SECRET CODES - For homeschoolers ages 6 - 11 (grades 1st - 5th)

Can you break the code?  We'll talk about the history of secret doces and then learn some simple cipers that can be used to encode and decode messages.  Program will last 45 - 60 minutes.

Come and read with us at the library!  April is Drop Everything and Read (D.E.A.R.) Month.  Celebrate with us in honor of author Beverly Cleary's birthday on April 12 by dropping into the library. dropping everything else, and finding a cozy place to read.  Come and go as you please.

Are you a kid in kindergarten through 5th grade who loves building with LEGO bricks?  Be a part of our monthly Evening LEGO Club.  Each month we'll introduce a different theme or special challenge and then turn you loose on the library's LEGO collection to build something awesome.  Program will last about hour.  
PARENTS:  To allow as many children as possible to experience LEGO Club, please sign up your child for only one LEGO Club session per calendar month.

BONDING WITH BOARD GAMES - For all ages

Denise Dias from the K-State Extension Office will teach families how to play Euro Board Games.  Euro-style games emphasize strategy while downplaying luck and conflict.  Playing these games as a family creates a positive environment for communication to happen and relationships to grow.  Families are invited to attend together.  No registration.  Drop in for a while or stay the whole time.

Do you enjoy making things?  Join us for the Junior Makers program, where you will have the chance to explore STEAM and create.  This month's session will feature Maker Mash-Up (various materials on hand to work with).  Program will last about an hour.

BABY BOOK EXPLORERS:  EARLY LITERACY SKILLS - For newborn to 24 months with adult

Come to the library with your baby (newborn to 24 months) to read, learn, and play!  A board book will be shared with the group, after which you will have time to explore your own take-home copy of the book together.  Each session will culminate with play as you and your baby engage in various learning activities and sensory manipulatives.  Older siblings are welcome to attend.  Program will last about 45 minutes.

FISH TALES - For ages 5 & younger with accompanying adult

Come to Stagecoach Park for a free 30 minute preschool stortyime.  The Olathe Public Library and the Olathe Community Center present a morning of stories, songs, and play.  In case of bad weather, the storytime will be held inside the community center (1205 E. Kansas City Road).  No registration required for the storytime.  For a small fee you can stay for a special Me & Mini Me Swim.  For more informaton please call the Olathe Community Center at
