Let's Dance. Come shake, shimmy, and dance up a storm at our preschool dance party, featuring favorite songs from our children's music collection.  No registration, but space is limited.  Prgram will last about 20 - 30 minutes.

SATURDAY STORYTIME - For preschoolers & their families

Families with young children are invited to Saturday Storytime!  Stories will be geared to 3 - 5 year olds, but everyone is welcome to enjoy songs, rhymes, books and early literacy activities. No registration.  Storytime will last about 30 minutes.
NOTE:  This storytime will feature different books than the weekday storytimes.

ILLUSTRATION STATION - For all ages

Discover picture book art!  Explore the style of five illustrators:  Lois Ehlert, Michael Hall, Mo Willems, Mies Van Hout, and Walter Wick.  Kindergartners and younger must be accompanied by an adult.  No registration.  Come and go as you please.

READ TO A DOG - For young readers of all ages

1:30 - 2:30 p.m at Indian Creek

Children of all ages may drop by the library and read to a cuddly canine between 1:30 and 2:30 on the dates listed above. Come to the Children's Desk upon arrival and check in for a reading time. Reading sessions are limited and will be available on a first come, first served basis. No advanced registration necessary. For more information, call (913) 971-6874. Trained therapy dogs provided by Pets for Life, Inc.

CREATE AND PLAY WITH PUPPETS - For all ages

Create your own puppet!  Puppets come in all shapes and forms, so let your imagination guide you.  Once you have create your puppet, you can create stories and play with others.  Materials will be provided.  Kindergartners and younger must be accompanied by an adult.  No registration.  Come and go as you please.

KANSAS READS TO PRESCHOOLERS CRAFT - For preschoolers + adult

PIZZA & PAGES BOOK LOVERS CLUB - For 3rd - 5th graders

Do you LOVE books and reading? Are you in grades 3 - 5? Join a club for kids who love reading, sharing, and learning more about books!  Each month we'll share a quick pizza dinner, talk about books we've read (or are reading), and enjoy a surprise reading-related activity together.  Please bring a copy of a book you've enjoyed recently to the program (preferably a book the OPL owns, but it doesn't have to be) and be prepared to tell us a little bit about it—without giving away too much of the story!  Program will last about 90 minutes.

BABY BOOK EXPLORERS - For newborn to 24 months + adult

Come to the library with your baby (aged newborn to 24 months) to read and play the "6 by 6" way!  A board book will be shared along with tips on how to foster "6 Skills by 6 YearsP literacy at home.  Adults and children will be given time to explore their take-home copies of the book together.  Each session will culminate with play as children engage in various activities and manipulatives.  Program will last about 45 minutes.

FRIDAY FISH TALES @ STAGECOACH PARK - For preschoolers + adult

Come to Stagecoach Park by the Olathe Community Center for a free 30 minute preschool storytime provided by the Olathe Public Library.  No registration required.  In case of bad weather, the storytime will be held inside the community center.

Do you enjoy making things?  Join us for the Junior Makers program, where you will have the chance to create.  Each session will feature a different project and the chance to learn something new.  This session will feature wind-propelled cars.  Program will last about an hour.

Creative play for young car lovers!  Children ages 2 through 6, and the adults who bring them, are invited to stop by with their favorite toy car or truck to zoom around our library Tape Town.  Make various pit stops along the way to mail a letter at the post office, deposit money at the bank, work out at the gym, and more!  Please limit children to only one non-motorized vehicle.  Don't have a toy car?  Take one of ours for a test drive!  No registration.  Come and go as you please.

STUFFED ANIMAL SLEEPOVER - For all ages  (Only stuffed animals will spend the night at the library.)

Bring one of your favorite stuffed animals for a sleepover at the library!  You and your stuffed animal will enjoy bedtime stories on Friday, and then your animal friend will spend the night at the library listening to stories, playing games, and probably staying up very late. Pick up your animal on Saturday and see some pictures of how the sleepover went.  No registration.
