Drop by the Indian Creek Library every Monday for a mission in fun!  Learn the art of paper folding, create a secret code, complete a scavenger hunt, participate in a life-size board game; the possibilities are sure to keep you guessing.  This program is for K - 5th grade, but parents and siblings are welcome.  Kindergarten and younger must be accompanied by an adult.  No registration.  Come and go as you please.

Learn about the Santa Fe Trail by listening to excerpts from the American Girl series about Josefina.  After listening to the story, learn more about the items traded on the trail and make a memory box for your special memories.  This event is part of the Olathe Latino Coalition celebraton of Hispanic Heritage Month and is presented in conjunction with Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop.  Program will last about 45 minutes.

PRESCHOOL DANCE PARTY - For ages 5 & younger with adult

Let's dance!  Come shake, shimmy, and dance up a storm at our preschool dance party, featuring favorite songs from our children's music collection.  No registration, but space is limited.  Tickets will be handed out 15 minutes prior to program.  Program will last 20 - 30 minutes.

R.E.A.D. TO A DOG - For young readers of all ages

Young readers of all ages may drop by and read to a cuddly canine  between 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. at the Indian Creek Library.  Upon arrival, check in at Children's Services for a reading time.  Reading sessions will be limited and available on a first come, first served basis.  Trained therapy dogs provided by Pets for LIfe, Inc.

AFTERSCHOOL TECH CLUB - For 3rd - 5th grade

Come play with technology at the library.  Each month's program will focus on a different tech tool and toy.  This month we'll learn about creating with Green Screen.  Program will last about an hour.

HOMESCHOOL: FAMILY BUILD WITH KEVA - For homeschoolers ages 5 - 11 (grades K - 5th) & parents and siblings

The whole family is invited to join us for building fun with the library's KEVA plank collection.  One simple block design, endless construction possibilities—no glue or connectors required!  Create buildings, monuments, geometric designs, or crazy contraptions.  No registration.  Program will last about an hour.

Are you a kid in kindergarten through 5th grade who loves building with LEGO bricks?  Be a part of our monthly Evening LEGO Club.  Each month we'll introduce a different theme or special challenge and then turn you loose on the library's LEGO collection to build something awesome.  Program will last about hour.  
PARENTS:  To allow as many children as possible to experience LEGO Club, please sign up your child for only one LEGO Club session per calendar month.

BABY BOOK EXPLORERS: EARLY LITERACY SKILLS - For newborn to 24 months with adult

Come to the library with your baby (newborn to 24 months) to read, learn, and play!  A board book will be shared with the group, after which you will have time to explore your own take-home copy of the book together.  Each session will culminate with play as you and your baby engage in various learning activities and sensory manipulatives.  Older siblings are welcome to attend.  Program will last about 45 minutes.

DICE AND DOMINOES! - For 1st - 5th grade

Star Wars fans of all ages are invited to celebrate a Star Wars Evening at the Library.  Drop by the Children's Department at the Downtown Library anytime from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. for crafts, activities, games, and more that celebrate Star Wars.  Take a photo with members of the 501st Legion!  Costumes are encouraged!!  No registration.  Come and go as you please.

Which do you like better?  After registering, stop by the Indian Creek Library and pick up your copy of The BFG by Roald Dahl.  Read the book, then join us to watch the movie (rated PG, 117 minutes) and be ready to decide the winner:  book or movie!  Snacks will be provided.  Program will last about three hours.

FOX FRIENDS: STORYTIME & CRAFT - For all ages

SHOW AND (STORY)TELL - For all ages

In this year's Big Read (The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien), American soldiers of the Vietnam War carry necessary supplies—things like food rations and boots—and they also carry things that remind them of home or an important memory.  Every object has a story, and it's time for you to drop in and share yours!

We ask that participants bring a photo, stuffed friend, family heirloom, or a small artifact (no living things please), and we will help turn it into a story using writing, art, and oral storytelling.  Each story collected will be complied into an online magazine to be share with the Olathe community.  All ages welcome.  Kindergarten and younger must be accompanied by an adult.  No registration.  Come and go as you please.

JUNIOR MAKERS:  PAPER AIRPLANES - For 1st - 5th grade

Do you enjoy making things?  Join us for the Junior Makers program, where you will have the chance to create and learn something new.  This month's session will feature Paper Airplanes.  Program will last 45 minutes to an hour.

FISH TALES - For ages 5 & younger with accompanying adult

Come to Stagecoach Park for a free 30 minute preschool stortyime.  The Olathe Public Library and the Olathe Community Center present a morning of stories, songs, and play.  In case of bad weather, the storytime will be held inside the community center (1205 E. Kansas City Road).  No registration required for the storytime.  For a small fee you can stay for a special Me & Mini Me Swim.  For more informaton please call the Olathe Community Center at

ROOM ON THE BROOM - For all ages
