2014 Curtis Gilmore Memorial Scholarship
The Friends of the Olathe Public Library will award two $500 scholarships to high school seniors who have worked a minimum of 40 hours as a library volunteer. Hours eligible are those worked from the summer of the 9th grade through 12th grade.
The recipients may use the money at any school of higher learning: i.e., state, privat or technical schools.
The scholarship was established last year to honor library volunteer Curtis Marion Gordon Gilmore who passed on February 10, 2007. He was a senior at Olathe North High School, due to graduate that May. He donated 116 hours while a volunteer at the library from 2003 – 2005. He is fondly remembered for his humor, friendliness and commitment to helping others.
The Friends of the Olathe Public Library will host a Novel Tea to fund the scholarships. The tea will be held from 2 - 4 pm, March 29, 2014, at the Indian Creek Community Church . More information about the tea will be coming soon.
